Hi, Christabel! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
As the mom of a child with special needs, I am very appreciative of how accommodating the Walt Disney World Resort is for
guests with disabilities. Whether a guest's disability is long-term or temporary, the Walt Disney World Resort makes sure the magic is accessible to everyone.
First of all, be sure that your dad seeks the advice of his doctor about any restrictions this injury might place on him during his vacation. A visit to the Walt Disney World Resort involves quite a bit of walking and standing. Therefore, your dad may want to consider renting a
wheelchair or
electric conveyance vehicle (ECV)/scooter. Guests using wheelchairs or ECVs can often remain in their mobility device while waiting in attraction queues. For those attractions in which this is not possible, other accommodations will be in place so that
guests with mobility disabilities do not have to stand for long periods. Simply ask a Cast Member at an attraction that your father would like to experience, and they will let you know the best way for him to access that attraction comfortably.
If you would like more information about visiting the Walt Disney World Resort with a mobility disability, feel free to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or disability.services@disneyparks.com. You can also visit
Guest Relations at any of the theme parks if you and your dad have any additional questions or concerns.
Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Samantha
