Should we customize our Magic band before or after we make fast pass choices?

    Hi Loretta,

Thank you for submitting your question to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  We are happy to help you with any vacation planning question that you might have.

The choice is up to you which to select first as one does not affect the other.  Both of these items are a lot of fun to choose and really start the magic going for my family.

The reason you may customize your MagicBand before you make FastPass+ selections is because the MagicBand has no personal information about you on it.  Instead your MagicBand has an encrypted code that identifies you to only the Disney database.  It is in this database where your most up to date FastPass+ selections, advanced dining reservations, Disney Dining Plan meal credits, and optional credit card information is kept.  This is part of the reason why the MagicBand is so secure.  It simply is the link to identify you.

I hope this information helps you understand how MagicBands work as well as their safety and convenience.  You may order your MagicBand whenever you like and continue to make FastPass+ selections or modifications even while you are already enjoying your vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort.  It really is that easy!

    Have a MAGICAL vacation!
