What is the customary amount or suggestion for tipping housekeeping? I once read $1 for each person in a room, but what if the rooms are large, like at the DVCs or a suite?

    Hi David,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  Typically I will tip my Mousekeeper $1 per person per day.  I leave the tips on a daily basis simply because I want to be sure that it is received by the person that actually serviced my room that day.

You bring up a great point about the DVC and suite accommodations, it is certainly reasonable to acknowledge the added rooms and bathrooms of these larger accommodations with a little bit extra.

One thing to consider though, is that if you are staying at a DVC resort on points, your room will not be serviced daily.  If you are staying less than eight nights, you will receive trash and towel service on day four.  If you are staying more than eight nights, you will receive a full cleaning on day four and a trash and towel service on day eight.  I would typically tip $1 per person on trash and towel day, and $2-3 per person on the full cleaning day.

    Hope this helps.
