I currently have a wdw resort reservation. Thinking of canceling it to stay off property. Can I roll my deposit and monies I have paid on the trip to just purchases park tickets? Or will I have to cancel the reservation and wait for a refund?

Hi Sharon! Welcome back to planDisney! We are so happy to see you again.

It looks like you are planning yet another fabulous Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Well, I bet this time will be even more enchanting than ever, given that you will be visiting during Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration. You really can feel the excitement in the air from the moment you arrive. From the special EARidescent foods to exciting new attractions like Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, you won't want the celebration to stop! I am just so excited for you and your family to experience the magic!

Sharon, staying at a Disney Resort Collection hotel allows you to immerse yourself in that world-famous Disney magic from the moment you arrive. There are so many fabulous Disney Resort hotels with a wide range of prices, so you're bound to find the perfect place to "stay in the magic" with your family! But, should you decide to stay elsewhere, your Walt Disney World vacation will still be as extraordinary as can be!

If a Disney Resort Collection hotel is not for you, I highly recommend staying at one of the many Good Neighbor Hotels surrounding Walt Disney World. There are many reasons to choose a Good Neighbor Hotel, including convenient transportation to the parks and a dedicated Guest Services desk to help answer all of your Walt Disney World questions. In addition, guests of select Good Neighbor Hotels can also take advantage of early theme park access to enjoy an extra 30 minutes in the park each morning!

Now, should you decide to stay at one of these fantastic Good Neighbor Hotels around Walt Disney World, simply call the Resort Reservations team at (407) 939-1936, and they will be able to transfer your reservation and deposit over to your new hotel. How easy is that?

If you plan to stay elsewhere, your best bet would be to cancel your reservation at least 30 days from your scheduled check-in and receive a full refund of any payments made to date, which you can then use toward your theme park tickets.

No matter where you stay, Sharon, I am sure you will have an absolutely wonderful time with your family on your upcoming vacation. There is so much that is new, exciting and maybe even a little unfamiliar at Walt Disney World, so please feel free to revisit us if you have any other questions!

    Have a magical day!
