I am currently trying to plan a disney vacation with my fiance and our 3 girls, we were thinking about doing both wdw and the dcl. We were wondering how the cruise is in late December/ early January and what special activities there are for the christmas h

    Hi Jocelyn,

Welcome to the Moms Panel - this is a great place to find tested advice on planning a Disney vacation!  I love combining our cruise and land vacations, it allows us to "do it all" with only purchasing one set of round trip airfare!

The holidays are always a special time at Disney - but if you can push your vacation off until the beginning of January not only will the crowd levels drop significantly, the rates will be much better as well.  The time frame between Christmas and the New Year tends to be extremely crowded, and due to this demand - the rates are at their peak.  The weather will be about the same during this time frame - which is unfortunately a bit unpredictable.  I've had vacations where we wore hats and mittens half the vacation, and were swimming during the other half!

Personally, I prefer to cruise before I visit Walt Disney World - and I explained why HERE.

Good luck with your decision - be sure to come back with all of your planning questions!
