Hi, Sarah!
I am so excited you are interested in participating in the 2015 Disney Princess Half Marathon. You are already well on your way to success by having begun your training.
One thing to consider with the 16 minute mile requirement is while the race clock starts at the beginning of the race, the pacing clock will not start until the very last runner in last corral crosses the starting line- thus allowing a bit of extra time if you are already on the course when the pacing clock begins. In the past, runners who were unable to complete the race have been escorted to the Family Reunion Area where they did receive a medal. However, please keep in mind this could change.
I would also like to suggest taking a look at the free
run/walk training plans offered by the official runDisney Training Consultant, Jeff Galloway. By using the run/walk method you can avoid injury while training and finish with a faster time, all while reducing muscle fatigue.
With a sound training plan and plenty of time to prepare, you will not have anything to worry about. I hope this information is helpful, Sarah. Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have as you prepare for your first Disney Princess Half Marathon!
Happy Training!
Faith
