I currently have a tier 1 ticket and reservation for January 19th but am no longer able to make that trip. However my desired date for a new reservation is tier 2. Do I upgrade my ticket to tier 2 first or make a new reservation first?

    Welcome to planDisney, Charlie,

It’s too bad your original plans aren’t working out. But there is still magic to be found at the Disneyland Resort. I’m happy to be able to share what I know about how to find your way to that magic.

A valid theme park ticket is required to make a theme park reservation. So, yes, you will need to have a ticket that is valid for a tier level of the date of your visit to make that reservation. Fortunately, most theme park tickets may be upgraded to another ticket of equal or greater value by visiting a Main Entrance Ticket Booth.

Tony’s Tip: Those of us who do not live nearby the Disneyland Resort may inquire about alternative options for upgrading theme park tickets by calling the Tickets phone line. Or, for a more convenient option, Cast Members are available through the chat service with the Disneyland app. Cast Members may be able to make arrangements as long as the original ticket is purchased directly from Disney. Be sure to have the ticket purchase confirmation number handy.

I’m happy you have another option available for your visit to The Happiest Place on Earth, Charlie. There is some wonderful magic returning this year to enjoy. I hope you get to experience as much of it as possible.
