We currently have reservations for late summer at Port Orleans but am thinking of changing to the Dolphin Resort. The prices of the Dolphin are different on the Disney website versus the Dolphin Website. Why is that? It is over $500 difference.

    Hi Debbie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! While I don't have access to the magic mirror or back-end computer system that provides insight to your exact question, I can tell you that both the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel and the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel are owned and operated by Starwood Hotels and Resorts, so the difference you see could be a rate sale on their end. I am actually a bit jealous, as I'm known to do some wacky things to earn points with that brand. (Ask my husband about our 5 night vacation in the northeast where I made us switch hotels three times.)

Even though these two hotels are technically located on Walt Disney World Resort property, they don't share all of the same Disney amenities you'll have should you keep your reservation at Port Orleans. Both locations offer complimentary inter-resort transportation to the parks, both allow FastPass+ reservations to be made 60 days in advance of your first park day, and both allow their guests to participate in Extra Magic Hours.

However, guests of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels like Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside have access to Disney's complimentary airport shuttle, the Magical Express, that will both pick your family up from and return you all to Orlando International Airport. Disney Resort Hotel guests have the option to purchase a Disney Dining Plan. And MagicBands are not only complimentary to Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests, they also serve as a charging device for those who stay at a Disney Resort Hotel as the band is linked to the credit card on file with your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room.

I do hope this helped a bit. And remember, no matter where you stay you're going to have a great time with your family because you'll be at Walt Disney World Resort. We'll See You Real Soon, Debbie!
