Ann Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Currently we have 820 points available for year use Aug 2022 and 410 for year use Aug 2023. We are looking to book a vacation for our family from 27 June 2023...will we only have a total of 1230 points to use or can we borrow from year use Aug 2024 also?

    Welcome to planDisney, Ann!

I'm always glad when a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member drops by for a visit –– thanks so much for your question.  It definitely sounds like you and your family have something BIG planned for your next visit.  You must be so excited!  Like you, my family often travels together as a large group, which is what makes the flexibility of our Disney Vacation Club Membership so perfect.  Whether we need to book a Deluxe Studio for just a few of us or borrow Points from our upcoming Use Year to book a 3-Bedroom Grand Villa for the whole gang, we can use our Vacation Points to tailor the perfect accommodations for each and every visit. Since it sounds like you're planning to combine Points from multiple Use Years, let me share a few details about the banking process to help as you plan your upcoming stay.

When you need a few more Vacation Points to book the perfect accommodations for a Disney Vacation Club stay, Members can borrow up to 100 percent of the Points from their upcoming Use Year to book their reservation.  However, those Points can only be borrowed from the next Use Year –– you won't have the option to borrow points from subsequent years.  This means that if you have an August Use Year and you're traveling in June 2023, you'll be able to use any Vacation Points from your 2023 Use Year, as well as borrow Points from your 2023 Use Year, to book your reservation.  If you currently have 820 Points available for 2022 and you have 410 Points for 2023, you'll have 1230 Vacation Points available to you for your upcoming visit.

While borrowing Vacation Points is a great way to plan a truly magical visit, there is one thing you'll want to keep in mind (especially since it sounds like you're planning to borrow a large number of Points).  Once your Vacation Points have been borrowed, they can't be returned to their original Use Year or banked for the next Year. This means that in the event that your reservation needs to be canceled or modified, any surplus Points that you've borrowed for your June 2023 visit will expire at the end of July 2023 (before your August 2023 Use Year begins).

Again, thanks for visiting planDisney, Ann.  I hope this helped to answer your question, but if you need more planning help as your upcoming Disney Vacation Club visit gets closer, please don't hesitate to stop by again –– we're always here to help!

    Happy Planning,
    Amy
