Hi Ginny,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted that you brought this question to us!
There are several
moderate resort hotels that offer terrific amenities. My husband and I have stayed at
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. The main pool area at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is fantastic and there are also pools in each of the six villages. Caribbean Beach Resort is currently undergoing refurbishment and the dining areas are being reimagined. Some of the rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort are pirate-themed. Ahoy matey!
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter has the Scat Cat Club jazz lounge that serves drinks. The pool area is also quite nice - Doubloon Lagoon pays homage to Mardi Gras in its decor. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is beautifully themed and has Royal Guest Rooms if you prefer to sleep like royalty. There are also six pools here, Ol' Man Island is the main pool and there are five additional pools. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside also has
Boatwright's Dining Hall which is a table-service restaurant.
Ginny, since there are seven in your group, you may want to try a two-bedroom villa or suite. There are several
deluxe villa resorts with nice options. At Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa we have enjoyed a full kitchen and washer/dryer in a two-bedroom villa.
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
