Currently looking to book a verandah on Wish for July 18 - 22, the only options are guarantee rooms. Will the option to choose your stateroom become available soon?

    Ahoy Jennifer!

Sounds like the dream that you WISHed is about to come true with a reservation on the Disney Wish. This new ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet has Guests abuzz with excitement.  I’m right there with you in wanting to be one of the first to set foot on this beauty.

With a Guaranteed Rate stateroom, you do not get to specifically choose your stateroom, but instead you select the stateroom category. Your room will be assigned at a later date. So, for example, you could select a “Guaranteed Oceanview Stateroom” rate and you will be guaranteed to have an Oceanview stateroom that will be assigned to you when your sail date gets closer. Contact Disney Cruise Line and a Cast Member will be more than happy to walk you through booking the best possible arrangement for your family.

Here’s the good news about the Guaranteed rate: Guests are guaranteed the type of room listed on their reservation or better, so it actually can work out better for Guests in certain circumstances (like a higher deck or a particular location on the ship).

My understanding is that when the ship gets close to capacity, it gets pretty technical; then Captain Mickey has to make sure the numbers of Guests for the various stateroom assignments also works from a safety standpoint with the lifeboat capacity and zones of the ship. So that may explain why these very popular Disney Wish voyages are showing only Guaranteed Rate staterooms. I'm assuming that once you see only Guaranteed Rate staterooms for an itinerary, it likely will remain the same and actual stateroom assignments will be done by Disney Cruise Line.

If selecting your stateroom location is that important to you, you can always keep checking to see if any staterooms open up that are not Guaranteed Rates and you could change; however, the room rate would be based on the new stateroom category at the time you switch. If it were me, I would have confidence in the stateroom assigned to me by Disney Cruise Line. Then again, having seen the stateroom categories for the Disney Wish, I believe that this ship is gonna blow us all away!

Whatever you decide, I’m WISHing you the best of luck getting the reservation you want. Enjoy every moment of your Disney Wish sailing during her inaugural season!

    SEA ya real soon
