Hi Patricia!
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you stopped by to see us with a great question about your trip later this year! I always find that the true magic of a Disney vacation is found in the people we share it with. I'm sure that your family will enjoy making memories together on an unforgettable adventure!
Patricia, vacation packages can be a great way to bundle your theme park tickets and room reservations while also
taking advantage of select special offers. In addition to the
great resort benefits extended to everyone staying at a
Disney Resort hotel, Guests who book a vacation package also have access to
Magical Extras included with their stay. When you book a vacation package, everyone in the package must have the same entitlements (park tickets, dining plans, etc.). Unfortunately, this means that you cannot remove the tickets for your mom while keeping your current vacation package for the remainder of your party.
With Disney's
complimentary resort transportation, it's easy and free to travel between the theme parks and your resort hotel, which can hopefully help you plan a visit that balances time in the parks with that resort relaxation your mom hopes to enjoy. After taking advantage of
Early Theme Park Entry, I sometimes like to take a midday break to recharge poolside and let the kids play before heading back to the parks in the evening for dinner and
fireworks.
There are also shows and attractions inside the parks that offer a nice break when you want to rest your feet. Both
Festival of the Lion King and
Finding Nemo: The Big Blue. . .and Beyond! are great choices at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, as well as
The American Adventure when visiting EPCOT. Disney's Hollywood Studios is home to
several incredible shows, and you can never go wrong with
Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress (an absolute classic!) at Magic Kingdom Park.
If you would like to remove the theme park ticket for your mom, you could consider
cancelling your current vacation package and then booking a room-only reservation. This would allow you to purchase tickets separately and only for those who want them. However, please keep in mind that certain special offers (such as
free dining) only apply to vacation packages.
I hope this information has been helpful, Patricia, as you continue to plan a Walt Disney World Resort vacation that is practically perfect in every way AND for every member of your family! You've got a friend in me here at planDisney, so please stop by again if you have any other questions!
To Infinity and Beyond!
Kristi
