I currently have a deposit for a trip to Disney World. Is it possible to transfer that deposit to a Disney Cruise?

Well hello there Tiffany, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds to me like you're planning on pulling a reverse version of Ariel's journey in The Little Mermaid, trading a land-based vacation for an experience at sea; with some pretty exciting new celebrations and offers this year, I don't blame you! I wish I knew more specifics about what you made a deposit towards, but in this case I'll have to do the best I can to give you some more general knowledge about my personal experience with a similar situation.

As you make reservations for a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel stay, you'll want to confirm that you're within the timeframe ahead of your stay in order to reclaim your deposit without paying any penalties or cancellation fees. I spoke with a Reservations Cast Member and they strongly urged that guests should contact them directly and explain the situation in detail since they'll likely need to cancel first before moving ahead to book and make a new deposit with Disney Cruise Line as their reservation team and booking process is completely separate. The Cast Member let me know that at the current time, there is no way to directly transfer your deposit between the two; sometimes the need for flexibility with travel plans and assistance is why some choose to make use of a dedicated travel agent who can help provide guidance with a process like this!

But for some fellow seafaring folks, instead of deciding between a stay on Land or at Sea they decide to combine them together into one vacation to experience the best of both worlds! There's a certain whimsy to staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and seeing similar architecture when sailing to actual Caribbean destinations! Or perhaps enjoying all of the food options at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and seeing how they compare to the tantalizing treats that inspired them in the varied Ports of the South Pacific.

However you decide to spend your vacation, you're always welcome back to planDisney to ask me any more questions, and especially our Disney Cruise Line specialists Tracie and Adrianna!

Here's to your next adventure, either on Land or by Sea!
