I currently have a 5 day ticket to the parks. I am a southern CA resident and if I decide to upgrade to a Magic Key on my last day of being in the parks do I have to pay in full for the Magic Key or can I do Monthly payments.

Howdy, Nicole! Thanks for stopping by planDisney and asking your question!

I'm so glad that you are considering upgrading your ticket to a Magic Key! Since California residents are able to pay for their Magic Keys using a monthly payment plan, this option is still available if you upgrade a ticket to a Magic Key.

Upgrading on the last day of your five-day ticket is a smart idea because that will allow you to keep your theme park reservations intact for your trip. Just be sure to enter the parks on day five and then upgrade your ticket to a Magic Key in the Disneyland app sometime before the parks close that day. Keep in mind that your Magic Key activation/anniversary date will be retroactive to the first day that you used your five-day ticket.

After you have upgraded to your Magic Key, you will still need to make theme park reservations for any time you want to visit the parks in the future. Magic Key holders can hold between two and six reservations at a time depending on the type of Magic Key they have. Theme park reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance and you will use a separate theme park reservation availability calendar than those with day tickets to the parks.

Finally, if you become a Magic Key holder within the first 66 days that they are available, you will receive a nifty welcome package in the mail! This will include a magnet, button, lanyard, pin, and special Disneyland map.

I hope this helps. Have a delightful time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
