Currently booked for 2024 NYE cruise on Treasure, but debating about switching to Thanksgiving in 2025. Any thoughts about which might be better? Has the panel cruised at either of these times? Thank you in advance!

Hello, Linda! Thank you for returning to planDisney with your questions.

I’m eagerly watching the countdown on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app tick down to my vacation aboard the Disney Treasure. I love reading about the updates from the Disney Parks Blog. They just posted a new ship’s log about the installment of Captain Hook and Peter Pan to the back of the ship. I'm excited to experience the magic firsthand!

A voyage at any time of year will surely be special, but the holidays are the absolute best! Sailing over New Year’s Eve sounds like a fantastic way to welcome 2025. Plus, you’ll be among some of the first guests to experience the Disney Treasure. In the past, for New Year's Eve, there has been festive music, delicious food, and activities for partygoers of all ages. Best of all, the fun starts before the clock strikes midnight and continues well into the evening with a special dinner menu and holiday entertainment.

I had such a wonderful Thanksgiving on the Disney Dream last year! The dining rooms were filled with festive cheer and served a delicious traditional Thanksgiving meal along with some other favorite items. What makes sailing during Thanksgiving truly special, besides not having to cook and clean, is that the cruise is usually a Very Merrytime Cruise, adding an extra dose of holiday cheer to your cruise.

The ship is beautifully adorned with garland and boasts a stunning three-deck-tall Christmas tree! Special experiences included a festive tree-lighting ceremony, warm hugs with Santa Claus, enchanting story time with Mrs. Claus, themed crafts, delightful treats, special holiday drinks, and a lively holiday deck party. It was the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.

I’m currently torn, Linda, between these two fantastic options. On the one hand, celebrating New Year’s Eve at sea promises a festive atmosphere perfect for ringing in the new year with joy and excitement. On the other hand, a Thanksgiving cruise offers a hassle-free meal paired with a holly, jolly atmosphere that brings the holidays to life.  Both choices have their unique charm, but no matter which one you pick, you’re guaranteed a magical experience filled with unforgettable moments.

I’m not sure if I’ve made the decision any easier – perhaps the best solution is to book both cruises! Happy planning!

    SEAS the adventure!
