We are currently "attempting" to plan our first WDW trip for February 3rd through the 9th. My son turns 3 on 2/5. We were told there were discounts for it being his birthday- is this true?? Also, where would you reccomend staying?

    Hi Tiffany,

A few years ago, there was a promotion which offered guests celebrating their birthdays the opportunity to enter the Disney theme park of their choice for free.  That promotion has long since passed so, no, there is no special birthday discount.  Sorry.

Now, as for where you should stay, that really depends on your budget.  The good news is that Walt Disney World has resort rooms that fit just about every budget.  If you are able, I would highly recommend that you stay at Disney's Wilderness Lodge in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World.  This is one of the most affordable deluxe resorts and its northwestern, National Park Service theming make it a perfect fit for families with little boys.  Plus, it offers the advantage of being very close to the Magic Kingdom - an excellent theme park for preschoolers.

My favorite moderate resort is Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter.  It is the smallest (and most charming, in my opinion) of the moderates so your room will be close to the resort's main amenities no matter where in the resort your room is located.  Having only one bus stop at this resort typically means shorter travel times to the parks.

Finally, if a value resort is right for your family's budget, consider a room at Disney's brand new Art of Animation Resort.  Your son will feel like he's living right in the middle of some of his favorite Pixar movies.

Let us know if you need any further advice, Tiffany!  We'd be delighted to help.
