What is the current policy on bringing personal food items like fruit, snack bars, or sandwiches into the Walt Disney World park? And water...... Sealed water bottles? If I brink my own thermos, are there re-fill stations available?

Welcome to planDisney Serena! Thank you for stopping by with this excellent question.

According to the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, Policies, & Regulations, you cannot bring glass jars (unless it is baby food) and alcoholic beverages. If you visit Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park you cannot have plastic straws as a safety measure for the animals who call that park home, so a juice box or something similar wouldn't be a good idea. Otherwise, I am happy to inform you that you can bring in all sorts of snacks and beverages for you and your party as long as they follow the rules. There are designated areas in the Theme Parks where you can temporarily remove your face coverings and enjoy your tasty snacks. Be sure to pick up a Theme Park Map when you arrive that will show you where these locations and so much more helpful information.

For my own Walt Disney World Resort family visits, we bring in bottled water every visit. You can bring in a refillable container if you wish; however, in my experience, the water in that area of the country does not taste good to me. Others don't have a problem with it, so you may think it is just fine. My caution to you is those water bottles can get very heavy as you explore the Theme Parks. One adult always seems to end up the designated pack mule. You cannot have wagons, anything you have to pull, large strollers (greater than 31 inches in width or longer than 52 inches), or big coolers or bags (nothing larger than 15 inches wide, 18 inches high, and 24 inches long) in the park. I am not sure how many are traveling with you or how old they are, but what has worked great for my family is everyone gets their own backpack. Everyone carries their snacks, bottled water, any souvenirs they purchase, trading pins, the sweatshirt they NEEDED in the morning that came off five minutes after we got there, etc. I had to do a quick backpack check to make sure everyone had theirs when we moved locations, and that was it! I have been doing this with my little ones for the last ten years; they aren't so little anymore!

I am so excited you are going to be visiting in just two very short days! Be sure to check out the Know Before You Go page to be sure nothing has changed since you last visited.

    Have a magical day, Serena!

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
