We are current DVC members and are considering adding on to experience even more magic! Is it best to add on to your home resort or to add on at another resort? Is it best to add on to your current use year or begin a new use year for the new points?

    Hi Tanya,

How great to be thinking about adding on to your Disney Vacation Club membership.  I can totally understand the desire for more magic!  There are many considerations when you are thinking about adding on vacation points, and I am happy to help you think through them.

Whether you should add on at your current home resort or add a new home resort is a personal decision.  Many members enjoy having more than one home resort because you can book vacations earlier at a home resort.  You can book your home resort up to eleven months ahead of your travel, and any other Disney Vacation Club resort up to seven months ahead of your travel.  This can become important during peak travel times.  For example, if you really want to stay at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort during the Christmas holiday season, it is probably a good idea to have this as a home resort.

As for use year, I called and spoke with a Vacation Club Guide at Disney Vacation Club, who let me know that Disney Vacation Club will do their best to make your new use year the same as the one that you have currently.  This will be easier for you to track when you are managing your vacation points.  There may be some situations in which this is not possible, but Disney Vacation Club will do their best to make it so.

When you are ready to add on vacation points, you can contact your Vacation Club Guide directly using the phone number on their business card or call (407) 566-3100 or 1-800-800-9100 to be connected with a Vacation Club Guide who can help you.

I want to thank Disney Parks Moms Panelists Kari and Andrea for their help with this question.  I hope that these thoughts help you with your decision Tanya, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
