What currency is used at Castaway Cay? Are there shops there to buy items? Also what is the currency used in the Bahamas? Doing a land and sea in Dec 2011 and am trying to plan out the budget and get organized. Thanks

    Hi, Lisa!

One of the greatest things about a Disney Cruise Line vacation is while you're on board the ship or at Castaway Cay -- you never have to carry cash.  Your Key to the World Card (or stateroom key) not only gives you access to your room, but it also serves as your ID on and off the ship, your charge card to purchase items on the ship or on the island and safely "stores" all your photos which are taken during the course of your cruise.

There are shops on Castaway Cay to purchase souvenirs or necessities.  In fact, our children usually pick out their one souvenir from the island -- whether it's a new beach towel, t-shirt or trading pin.

In the Bahamas, US Currency is widely accepted as well as most major credit cards. Therefore, there is really no reason to exchange your currency. I hope this helps you plan and gets you even more excited about your upcoming vacation.  Let me know if you have more questions.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!

    Bon voyage,

    Andi
