Hey there, hi there, ho there, Cory! I’m glad to see you here again with another great question!
You’ll be happy to know that foreign currency exchange is available right at Guest Services onboard. The exchange rate can vary, so it’s always best to check there for the current rate before completing your transaction.
You can exchange money using cash, a personal check from a U.S. bank, or U.S. dollar traveler’s checks. Checks may be cashed and exchanged with limits of $200 total on sailings of 7 nights or less and $500 total on longer cruises. (Cashier’s checks, foreign bank accounts, and credit-card cash advances aren’t accepted.)
Most Guests only exchange small amounts since credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most ports. If you prefer local currency, Guest Services can assist, but it’s important to note that rates fluctuate and fees may vary depending on the currency. If you return with leftover money, Guest Services can also advise whether a buy-back option is available based on the type of currency and availability onboard.
Did you know that you can also convert Disney Gift Cards into onboard credit? An onboard credit can be used to cover anything that is charged to your stateroom. Speaking of, if you’re able to use a
DisneyBand+ onboard, I’ve found that to be the most convenient way to charge souvenirs and specialty sips to my room during my voyage.
Whether you’re shopping, tipping, or just treating yourself to something special ashore, I hope you feel more confident when it comes to all things currency on your upcoming cruise. As you know, we’re always ready to help at
planDisney should any other questions come up before you sail away!
Bon voyage,
Sami
