I was curious about what type of shoes you would recommend for the Ketchikan Raniforest Island Adventure? We thought sandals might be a bit cold but since we may get wet don't want to be hiking around in wet socks. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi, Penny!

For the Ketchikan Rainforest Island Adventure, we wore our tennis shoes, and our feet didn't get wet.  It is a rubber boat, but it's not like white-water rafting where the water is pouring over the side.  I guess your feet could get wet from the spray of the boat or if you accidentally stepped into the water, but it's unlikely.  Sandals are too cold.

I recommend packing a couple of pair of walking shoes for Alaska in case one pair gets wet -- you have another pair ready for the next day.  I brought a lightweight pair of hiking books (which I got on sale in Alabama!) and my running shoes.  I hope that helps!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
