Hi Lauren,
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! It looks like you will be arriving at Disneyland Resort in just a few weeks! Our family likes to make a countdown calendar as we get close to our vacation date. It helps to get everyone excited about our trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
My family has many food allergies, and I understand how important it is to get safe, tasty food while on vacation. It's one of the reasons I love visiting Disneyland Resort - there are many safe options for us!
Plaza Inn is a classic Disneyland Resort restaurant known for it's fried Chicken and Pot Roast. Our family usually stops by Plaza Inn for "Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park". My kids love visiting with the characters, and I enjoy the all-you-care-to-enjoy options.
I always ask to speak with a chef before ordering food at any table service restaurant. Menus and ingredients can change at any time, so it's best to ask about your allergies when you arrive. I let the host know about our allergies as soon as we check-in, and then I also notify the server of our restrictions and ask for the chef. The chef usually reviews our allergies, checks ingredients, and then recommends which food should be safe for us. For breakfast, the chef will typically make a plate in the kitchen for the person with allergies to limit cross-contamination concerns at the all-you-care-to-enjoy spread.
Did you know that you can add some allergy information when making a dining reservation on the
Disneyland Resort website or on the
Disneyland Mobile app? After selecting the party size, date, time, and restaurant, there is an usually an option for Dietary Requests. Select "Edit" and specify which foods or ingredients your meal should be created without. Soy is one of the choices currently listed on there.
Lamplight Lounge,
Carnation Cafe, and
Storytellers Cafe are some of my other favorite dining locations when traveling with family members with food allergies. I try to make advanced dining reservations up to 60 days in advance to ensure that we are able to eat at our desired restaurants. Although some dining locations do have allergy menus, I still ask to talk with a chef to confirm which items should be safe for us.
Lauren, have a wonderful trip! If you need additional information about dining with food allergies at Disneyland Resort, feel free to
