I was curious to know how long it takes to get to one of the parks from the value resorts (roughly). We'd like to arrive to each park about 15 minutes before the park opens and I'd like to know when we should plan to get transportation.

    Hi Carrie,

Regular bus service begins each day about 60-90 minutes before park opening. The bus ride to each park would vary slightly based on its distance from your resort.

Magic Kingdom would typically take you about 30 minutes, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios would take about 25-30 minutes, Disney's Animal Kingdom about 25 minutes. These times do not include waiting times for the buses and are simply my estimation (since you asked for a "rough" estimate), times will vary with time of day, crowds and traffic.

One of my favorite resources to estimate travel times from one Walt Disney Resort location to another is the 'transport wizard' at www.ourlaughingplace.com. When you go to this website, at the bottom right of the page is a link for 'transport wizard'. Once you click on that link, you will be directed to a page to input your originating location and your destination. It will then give you the route (or sometimes several) and approximate travel time. Please keep in mind that buses typically run every 20 minutes and often prior to park opening, many guests will also be waiting along with you, so you may have to wait  for one or two buses if they are filled to capacity!

I hope this can better help you plan so that you get the most out of your magical day!
