We will be cruising on WONDER. We would like to bring onboard a multi-port charger for our electronics. The brand Cruise On featured on Amazon indicates its non-surge protection charger is "Disney approved". Is that true?

Ahoy there, Leigh! Welcome aboard, planDisney!

What a WONDERful cruise you’re about to embark on! The Disney Wonder holds a special place in my heart because it’s one of the first Disney cruises I sailed on when my kids were really young. In case you couldn’t guess, we had a WONDERful time and have continued to make memories with Captain Mickey ever since!

I bet you’re probably getting that packing list in order, in preparation for your cruise. I know that this might include lots of electronic items, including DisneyBand+. Of course, this means you’ll need a plan to charge all of those items.

What’s nice is that Disney Cruise Line staterooms have many plugs and charging ports available, to keep up with the many charging demands of families. Between my kids, husband, and me, we really put those charging ports to good use! Like you, I’ve also considered using a multi-USB charger to charge some of our items. While I'm not entirely sure of the brand and/or exact device model that you're asking about, I'd be happy to share Disney Cruise Line's policy when it comes to this, to help you make an informed decision if this specific model will work on board. I verified the guidelines with Disney Cruise Line to ensure that I'm giving you the most up-to-date information. However, my suggestion is to always check the Disney Cruise Line Packing List and Prohibited and Restricted Items list before sailing, as guidelines are always subject to change.

Disney Cruise Line does allow multi-USB chargers to be brought on board. They must be outfitted with only one plug, but can have multiple USB ports to charge multiple items. This is not the same as a multi-plug, extension cord, power strip, or surge protector, as these items are not allowed to be brought on board.

As an example, I use a multi-USB charger on board my Disney cruises to charge all of the DisneyBand+ devices for my family at once. It only has one actual plug that goes into the wall, but has multiple USB ports that can charge multiple DisneyBand+ devices at once. When I'm not using it for our DisneyBand+ devices, I'm able to charge our other electronics with USB chargers. It is a super helpful little device, and I highly recommend bringing one on board!

I have one more suggestion, since we’re on the subject of USB chargers and DisneyBand+, and that’s to bring a DisneyBand+ device on board! Is it absolutely necessary? No, as your Key to the World Card will work just the same, but being hands-free with DisneyBand+ is a game-changer and brought one of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort features with MagicBand+ on board my favorite ship!

Leigh, I hope you’re more prepared to continue packing for your cruise! I wish you the most beautiful memories on board! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any more questions.

    Bon Voyage,
