We are cruising out of San Diego in April. We have most of debarkation day in the city before we fly home. Are there any Port Adventures or tours that can be booked for debarkation day?

Ahoy there, Angela, and welcome aboard here at planDisney!

Ah, San Diego! Two of my family's favorite cruises on Disney Cruise Line have ended in San Diego: the California Coast from Vancouver and the Westbound Panama Canal itinerary from Port Canaveral! I'm extra jealous because your 4-night Baja itinerary takes you and your crew on my absolute favorite ship, the Disney Wonder! I guess when you spend more nights on that ship than the others, you start to play favorites a bit...

    Hmmm...where was I? Oh, that's right!

There's something amazing about waking up at the end of your Disney Cruise Line vacation in the Port of San Diego, with views of the city right outside your stateroom!

In both cases, we had a fair amount of time before our flight, too! While the first time we disembarked in California, we just made the short trip to the airport (seriously, we could see the planes taking off from our stateroom), the second, we made sure to leave a bit of time for some quick sightseeing!

While there unfortunately are not any Port Adventures to book for debarkation day, there are a few "planDrew-approved" suggestions of how to spend your day in San Diego within about a 10-minute drive from the port!

    • The obvious choice if you have to pick just one thing to do is the world-famous San Diego Zoo - it's a can't-miss experience that's just northeast of the port! Also located in nearby Balboa Park is a host of museums that could take you all day to explore - my favorite is the Air and Space Museum!
    • If you're looking for a glimpse into San Diego's Victorian-era past, Gaslamp Quarter has 16 blocks of historic buildings housing modern restaurants and boutiques!
    • The history continues in Old Town San Diego, just north of the airport, with buildings from the 1800s that exude the town's Mexican influence!
No matter how you decide to fill the time in San Diego, Angela, it will be time well-spent! From one Midwesterner ready to escape winter's grip to another, I hope you and your crew have an amazing time. Fair winds and following seas!
