We are cruising to the Mexican Riviera. We are wondering about shopping near the docking ports in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo? We are hoping to find local craftsmen rather than TShirt shops. Does Cabo have any good family beaches close to the port?

    Hi, Tamara!

My family and I sailed on the Disney Wonder to the Mexican Riviera in November, and we were delighted by these colorful ports of call and the magnificent scenery. There is much shopping in town both in Puerto Vallarta and in Cabo San Lucas -- it's within walking distance in Cabo and only a short cab ride away in Puerto Vallarta.  As I can remember, both ports have shops which house the works of local artisans alongside typical tourist fodder -- such as t-shirts and magnets. After all, both are big cruise ship stops and have to cater to many different styles.

I highly recommend booking the Puerto Vallarta City Tour through Disney's Port Adventures Desk for safe, reliable transportation to and from the port with a bi-lingual tour guide knowledgeable of the area and where you can find what you're looking for.  For a beach experience in Puerto Vallarta, I recommend the Las Caletas Hideaway, and in Cabo, you can take a water taxi to and from Lover's Beach near Los Arcos for a beach experience. If no one in your family speaks Spanish, I  highly recommend booking the excursion, Harbor Cruise & Scenic Drive.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
