We are cruising in June 2015. What do you suggest bringing for the pirate party? Is anything provided on the ship or available for purchase? Also, are there any places to find ratings for the different excursions?

    Welcome aboard, Janet -

June is almost here, and you'll be enjoying your magical voyage before you know it. Disney Cruise Line's signature Pirate Night is one of our most favorite evenings on the ship. Guests and crew members love getting dressed up - the pictures are always fun and you won't see this type of party anywhere else for sure!

There will be some Pirate attire available for purchase at the onboard gift shops. Tshirts, kids' costumes, eye patches, and even those pirate hats (with and without the matching Captain Jack Sparrow hair) and some other accessories are usually on hand. I've always found the selection (and sometimes the sizes) limited, since they only carry a set amount of inventory on the ship for each sailing. If you decide to purchase anything for Pirate Night, make sure you don't shop that same evening... it will be crowded (yes, I've made that mistake before!). Shop early for the best selection.

My family and I always come prepared and pack our own pirate gear... there's quite a bit more selection at a local party store. You might want to check out one of the online costume or party stores too. There's a lot out there for adults and children... and likely much cheaper too. My kids are used to wearing their pirate costumes with an eye patch or a hat or bandana. We sometimes wear matching pirate t-shirts just to change it up a little, but we always have some sort of pirate themed head gear. We've also picked up neon bracelets/necklaces to wear... it's fun on deck to be all lit up in the dark - also helps to keep track of your kids :-). You'll get a bandana at dinner by the way.

If you search on Google, there are usually blogs that cover Disney Cruise excursions & port adventures. You might need to read through, but it's likely that you'll find something out there. Let us know if you need additional info on specific port adventures.

    Hope this helps, Janet!

    Happy planning,
    ~ Dolly
