Hi there, Matthew!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney. Planning your first Disney Cruise with little ones is so much fun! My youngest child was two on our first voyage, and watching both of my kids discover the wonder of sailing with Disney Cruise Line is something I will never forget.
One of the best parts of a Disney Cruise is the variety of experiences designed for kids of all ages and interests. With that in mind, you may want to consider the
Disney Wish. The ship is stunning, and its restaurants are especially delightful for young children. Fans of Anna and Elsa will love dining in Arendelle, where they might even spot their favorite Frozen friends! On another night, World of Marvel offers an exciting experience for little (and grown-up) Guests who enjoy the Marvel universe.
Disney Cruise Line uses rotational dining, so you’ll visit a different restaurant each evening and get to enjoy all of them during your sailing. On longer cruises, you may even return to a favorite! One of the best parts of rotational dining is that your serving team travels with you to each restaurant. By the end of the cruise, they feel like family. My kids are always sad to say goodbye!
Your little princesses would also love the Royal Gathering, where several
Disney Princesses greet Guests in one charming experience. While you never know exactly who will be sailing, my kids still talk about discussing wayfinding with Moana and learning about kindness from Cinderella during our last voyage on the Disney Wish. It was incredibly sweet. Online booking for the Royal Gathering opens 30 days before your sail date. Don’t worry if you miss out on those reservations, though, as there are usually plenty of additional opportunities to meet Disney Princesses and many other beloved
Disney Characters throughout the cruise.
The pool areas are another highlight for my family! Your older kids will probably be drawn to the
AquaMouse, a super fun water attraction where getting soaked is practically guaranteed. My family rode it more times than I can count on our last sailing! Keep in mind that Guests must be at least 42 inches tall to ride, and those under 7 need to ride with someone age 14 or older. Also, kids who are
under three years old or aren't potty-trained generally can't use the pools. Fortunately, the Toy Story Splash Zone is the perfect place for them to splash and play safely!
I also cannot forget to mention the fantastic youth clubs available on every Disney ship! Kids ages 3 to 10 absolutely love
Disney’s Oceaneer Club, and mine always begged to go back! For the littlest sailors, most children ages 6 months to under 3 can enjoy
“it’s a small world” nursery! for an additional fee and with a reservation (the minimum age can vary). It is an adorable, welcoming space designed just for them. Parents can explore these areas with their children during Open House hours on embarkation day, which is a great way to help little ones feel comfortable before the fun officially begins.
Matthew, regardless of which ship you choose, I know your family will have the best time! I hope you reach out to planDisney again if you have additional questions.
Happy sailing!
Jen
