We are cruising for the first time ever (Dream) & we are so excited! My kids, 16, 14, 11, & 9, have all enjoyed pin trading in the parks, and want to know if this is something that is done only in the parks or will it be onboard the ships as well?

    Hi, Dawn!

Yay! You're sailing on Disney's Dream! You couldn't have picked a better cruise to be your first! My four children are similar ages as yours, and we've participated in Disney pin trading almost since it began more than a decade ago. It's such a great way to commemorate a trip or experience, and my kids love to interact and meet Cast Members as well as other Guests.

Yes, pin trading is alive and well aboard Disney Cruise Line (DCL), and you're kids are going to be tickled at the exclusive ones available on the ship as well as at Castaway Cay. If you would like to get a sneak peak into DCL pins from the past as well some current ones, check out Disney's Pin Trading Site for DCL.

Of course, like our family, the hardest part is going to limiting the kids to their pin purchases and then encouraging them not to trade them away! Because our kids love pin trading so much, we've designated a "keeper" side of their lanyards and a "trade-able" side which helps them keep their enthusiasm in check when trading.

I hope this helps you plan, and again congratulations on your cruise! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
