    We will be cruising the Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy. We want to try snorkeling for the first time. There are several options for snorkeling at Castaway Cay and St. Thomas. Which one is best for beginners?

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Thanks for asking an excellent question about snorkeling for first timers! First of all, let me commend you on your upcoming trip on the Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean. My family sailed that itinerary last month, and we had so much fun visiting Tortola and St. Thomas. We were able to enjoy breathtaking beaches, scenic views and of course vacationing with the Disney difference! In addition to the excursions, I am sure your crew will also love the opportunity to meet with Captain Mickey, dance at the Sail Away Celebration, watch first run movies, enjoy family entertainment and fine dining in the luxurious and majestic Disney Fantasy. If you would like my opinion on the best place to try snorkeling, then hands down it will be at Castaway Cay.  Castaway Cay is in a sheltered bay that has calm waters that are easy to navigate, no matter what level swimmer you are. There are two different trails to follow at Snorkeling Lagoon, one for beginners and another for the more advanced; and the best thing about snorkeling at Castaway Cay is the price.  We saved plenty of gold doubloons at Castaway with the prices of snorkel rental equipment at Gil's Fins and Boats ranging from $14-29 versus St. Thomas where most prices start at about $50 per person for the excursion (remember snorkeling is complimentary at Castaway Cay).
