Hi! We are cruising on the Disney Fantasy later this month, and I had a question on formal attire. How dressy is it? My son doesn't like to dress up at all. Also, how do I know which night is formal night? Thanks!

    Hi Jodi -

Welcome back to the Moms Panel. Your voyage is coming up real soon, so it's time to line up the outfits. There's lots of magical memories to be made, and photos and videos will help capture these moments. Formal or Dress Up nights on the Disney Cruise is encouraged to be enjoyed as comfortable as possible. I know that some kids just don't like to dress up at all. So feel free to pack outfits that your son will be comfortable in. If he doesn't like nice long pants, maybe he'll be more comfortable in nice khaki slacks paired with a collared polo shirt.  Hopefully, once he sees you all dressed up, he'll agree to wear what you'd like him to put on that evening :-).  There are families who go all out with all the bling and the glam -- and there are families who dress up nice enough for special occasions. There's really no strict rule, and you surely won't be turned away at the dining room. I do recommend making this 1 night your special family dress-up night... you can take those wonderful professional photos at the atrium before dinner. The Disney Cruise photographers will usually have a setup of signature Disney Cruise Line backgrounds that make your family photos extra special. These make great souvenirs and potential holiday photo cards to send to friends and family.

Formal night on the 7-night cruises is usually on Night 2. Schedules could still change, so remember to check the Personal Navigator each night to plan for the following day. I hope this helps.

Please let us know if we can offer any additional information to help you plan for your upcoming cruise.

    Bon voyage!
