Hi there, Deborah!
Welcome back to planDisney! Disney Cruises are one of my family's favorite ways to take a break from our busy schedules and spend time together. My family enjoys the various activities we can do as a group, although there are also opportunities for my kids to do their own thing while the grown-ups lounge in the Adults-Only areas. It is a great balance!
All of the kid-friendly activities make it a dream to sail on the Disney Cruise Line. My kids love hugging their favorite Disney Characters, gliding down the waterslides, and meeting new friends in
Disney's Oceaneer Club, the fantastic youth club for kids 3-10 years old. Each Disney Cruise Line ship offers different amenities in Disney's Oceaneer Club, but rest assured, the little ones always have a blast! For example, my kids designed their own roller coaster at the Ride Studio in Disney's Oceaneer Club on the Disney Wish last year...and then they virtually rode their creation. It was so cool! Tweens can also hang out in
Edge, a fun, exclusive area for 11 to 14-year-old Guests, and older teenagers enjoy playing games and watching movies in Vibe.
While my kids have fun in Disney's Oceaneer Club, my spouse and I enjoy lounging in the Adults-Only area. It is the perfect spot to grab a drink, read a book, or take a nap. My kids often spend the morning in Disney's Oceaneer Club, and then we pick them up for lunch, pool time, and afternoon activities before dinner. Talk about the perfect day!
Speaking of dinner, Disney Cruise Line offers
rotational dining to ensure Guests can enjoy each of the three themed restaurants at least once during their voyage. Each restaurant offers a completely different experience! Guests can find their dinner schedule and table number on the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app after boarding their Disney Cruise. The app also has many helpful features, including entertainment schedules and an Onboard Chat, where you can send messages to other members of your party aboard the cruise.
So, let's talk logistics. Disney Cruises are popular, and I recommend booking your cruise as early as possible to get your preferred itinerary and stateroom. Staterooms are your room on the ship (like a hotel room), and are located in three different sections: Forward (front of the ship), Midship (middle of the ship), and Aft (back of the ship). I like Midship staterooms located on a middle deck where I tend to feel less ocean movement but am close to the pool deck and other activities. Interior staterooms are usually the most affordable in my experience, as they do not have a window. I live in Nevada and cannot easily get to the ocean, so I prefer staterooms with a verandah. There is nothing better than watching the sunrise over the ocean!
Deborah, you can visit the
Disney Cruise Line website and select "Find a Cruise" under "Plan a Cruise" to begin exploring itineraries, Ports of Call (cruise destinations), and ships. My favorite Port of Call is Disney Cruise Line's private island,
Disney Castaway Cay, and I cannot wait to check out the new destination,
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point! I hope this information was helpful. Please reach out to planDisney again if you have other questions!
Happy sailing!
Jen
