Hi there, Christopher! Welcome to planDisney!
Thank you for bringing us your question, because it’s a very special one! I love questions from first-time Disney cruisers, especially about celebrations! I would be happy to give you my tips for choosing the right cruise itinerary, as well as some fun ways to celebrate your anniversary on board!
There are many options when it comes to choosing an itinerary and the length of your cruise. For a first cruise, I like 4-Night itineraries to “test the waters”, but I always prefer longer 7-Night cruises, as the more time on Captain Mickey’s ship, the better in my magically humble opinion!
Choosing an itinerary is as simple as deciding what part of the world you would like to see, and where you would like to leave from to see it. For a US resident going on their first cruise, I find it easiest to choose a port that leaves from and returns to the United States. While you can't go wrong with any of them, I'm partial to the Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries that sail to the
Disney Island Destinations, as they're an extension of all the magical offerings on board the ship!
When searching for a cruise under “Plan a Cruise” on the Disney Cruise Line website, you can filter the options by sailing port, cruise length, and even by “Special Offers”. This further helps me choose the right itinerary for my sail dates.
As for ship choice, like itinerary, you can’t go wrong here either! I don’t have a favorite ship, as I love them all equally, but I do love individual things about each one, including their unique theming. They all offer the same
superior level of Disney service, multiple entertainment options like Broadway-style shows, delicious
Rotational Dining, and many recreational activities. The choice of ship really will come down to itinerary and theming. For example, are you a Star Wars fan who would love to visit Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge on the
Disney Wish? Does the stunning adult-area, Europa District, on board the
Disney Fantasy appeal to you more for this sailing, etc.?
All the ships also offer plenty of non-alcoholic drink options. As a fellow non-alcoholic cruiser, I’ve sampled many of the fun non-alcoholic drinks on board. Plus, one of my favorite things about Disney Cruise Line is how accommodating they are with dining requests, so simply stating that you prefer only non-alcoholic food and beverage options to your Dining Team will have them making many suggestions and accommodations to suit you!
My final suggestion is to take advantage of the celebration options on board! No matter the ship, there are
adult dining options perfect for an anniversary celebration, as well as
onboard gifts, including many non-alcoholic options. My personal favorite and recommendation is the Cloudem Blue sparkling cider, but there are a variety of food, beverage, clothing, and decor options to add more pixie dust to your anniversary cruise!
Christopher, I hope I was able to add more magic to your anniversary celebration! I wish you many more magical years and memories ahead together! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any more questions.
Bon Voyage,
Rana
