Hi, We have cruise reservations for August 2024. My daughter will have just turned 11 at the end of July. Would she still be able to get into the Oceaneer club? She would be more comfortable staying with her 9 year old brother and 9 year old cousin.

Hello, Kaye, and welcome to planDisney!

An August Disney Cruise is the perfect opportunity for a back-to-school celebration! Disney has recently updated the age groups for the youth clubs on board. The Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are dedicated spaces for children ages 3-10, while your 11-year-old has her own space in the tween club, Edge. Although they can't participate in secured programming together, everyone can enjoy the youth clubs during Open House hours, conveniently listed on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you board the ship.

On my last sailing aboard the Disney Dream, my ten-year-old aged up to the tween club with my permission. He really enjoyed the activities and the opportunity to hang out with kids his own age. I recommend that she try to visit Edge on the first night. That’s when a lot of kids make friends, and as a group they help plan out the activities for the rest of the cruise with the counselors.

While I understand this news may not be exactly what you hoped to hear, rest assured there are many activities for everyone to enjoy together. From swimming and drawing your favorite Disney characters to trivia, crafts, game shows, movies, and unlimited ice cream, there's a variety of options for adventure

Here's to a voyage filled with laughter, joy, and a treasure trove of magical memories. Please stop by and see us again. We are always delighted to help!
