Hi there, Shawnee!
We're so happy to see you back at planDisney! Your question combines two of the most magical places I know: Disneyland Resort and a Disney Cruise Line ship! While I'm a big fan of pixie dust, I'll also be the first to say that the Disney apps are the best way to make sure you fly through your vacation with ease. So let's go!
I would recommend that your husband
create his own Disney account to use with the
Disneyland Mobile App and the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. While he could use your information, there are quite a few advantages to having your own account (especially on your cruise) and it's very simple to link park tickets and reservations to each user so that everyone has the correct trip information in their app.
Let's start with the Disneyland Mobile App. Once your husband has his own account, he can link everyone's tickets to his profile in the "Tickets and Passes" section by tapping on "Link Tickets & Passes" and either scanning the ticket barcode (he can scan the one that shows in your own version of the app, it's super easy!), by typing in the ID Number on the ticket, or by scanning a MagicBand+ that is linked to the ticket that you want to add. Now your husband can purchase Disney Genie+ for your group, make Lightning Lane reservations, use Mobile Food Ordering, and more under his own profile.
Now the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App is where you
definitely want to have your husband get his own Disney account because one of the most helpful features of the app is the Onboard Chat, which allows you to message other members of your party (no internet purchase required) during your cruise. Since you can't just send a regular text message, the Onboard Chat is the best way to communicate on the ship! To have the chat work correctly you'll each need to be on your own account. The chat also allows you to create a group message, so if you have other friends or family on the cruise with a mobile device you can chat with them, too! I find this feature particularly handy when we're trying to meet up at a theater for a show, or wondering if someone (cough...my husband) is done napping and ready to come swim.
And there's plenty more you can do in the app, too!To link a cruise to your husband's new account just open the app, tap on "Add Reservation" and provide your last name, birth date, and reservation number. Then your husband will be able to see all your cruise plans, just like on your account! I'm sure he'll make an excellent First Mate. You'll be ready to set sail with the tide!
I see that your trip is just peeking over the horizon, Shawnee! I'm so happy that we're able to help you plan the final details.
Feel free to drop me a note here if you need more help with either app in a hurry!Keep moving forward!
Amanda
