We're going on a cruise to Nassau in January with DH,DD14, DS10. I'm wondering if scheduling excursions prior to trip is a good idea due to weather? We love the beach. What are your suggestions?.

    Hi Rebecca,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  My family has taken several cruises during January, and have found the weather to be quite unpredictable and the crowd levels very light.  For this reason, I  typically do not pre-book my excursions.  If there was a specific activity that you really do not want to miss out on, then I would book it to avoid any disappointment later on, however if you are flexible in your plans I think it is best to hold off.

Now should the weather forecast indicate that you are going to have a perfect beach day while in Nassau, then you have a few options:

If an organized excursion doesn't fit your plans, and you feel comfortable traveling in Nassau alone, there are a couple of beaches that you could go to simply by taking a taxi from the pier.  Cabbage Beach is a free public beach not to far from the Atlantis resort, or Cable Beach is for-fee public beach (I think it is around $15 for a day pass).  Just be sure to make it back to the ship on time!

    Have a great time!
