    We will be on our 1st cruise to Mexican Riviera in Feb. 2011 with our kids ages 2, 8, & 10. Our port of calls are Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Any suggestions on excursion for the family? Tips for packing?

    Congratulations on your first cruise aboard the Disney Wonder to the Mexican Riviera!

    Like you, I have a myriad of ages represented in my family, and sometimes it's difficult to find activities that we can all enjoy together. For you and your group, I suggest taking a look at those Port Adventures that either include everyone despite their age -- such as the Pirate Boat Sail & Snorkel Adventure in Puerto Vallarta. Or, you can find a tour such as the Harbor Cruise in Cabo San Lucas which is a milder experience. If you would prefer a more active shore excursion, you can make arrangements for your 2-year-old to enjoy Flounder's Reef while you and your older kids venture out with a dolphin experience or a tour which may include a kayak or a bumpy ride on an off-road vehicle.

    My tips for packing include:

    • Rolling duffle bags are the best -- they move well but collapse the best for easy storage.
    • Pack your essentials in your day bag -- passports, cruise documents, medications, glasses, swimsuits
    • Iron your clothes before you travel (no irons in staterooms)
    • Bring a plastic, see-through over the door shoe organizer for toiletries on the bathroom door
    • Magnetic hooks and magnetic white boards keep you organized and informed in your stateroom
    • Wear your nice clothes more than once -- for guys, pair khaki pants and loafers with various collared shirts for evenings and for ladies, pack the little black dress and pair it with different accessories
    • Purchase a bottled water package for shore excursions or pack your own
