Ahoy, Cindy!
I'm happy to hear you're considering a Disney Cruise Line vacation for your family. There are many factors to consider when choosing which ship best fits your vacation needs!
First, you'll need to decide
when you want to cruise. For families with young children, I always recommend cruising in the off-season - during the months when most children are in school. You'll find lower rates during non-peak times. Once you've pinpointed a time frame for your vacation, you'll need to decide
how many nights you want to spend on the ship. Our first cruise was a three-night itinerary, and I feel like it was too short for us. By the time we learned our way around, it was time to disembark! I'd recommend at least a four-night cruise to give you plenty of time to experience all a Disney Cruise has to offer. Next, you'll need to choose your
destination and itinerary. The official DCL website has a
search engine you can use to search by ship, sail date, cruise length, and destination. You can check out the Port Adventures for all of Disney Cruise Line's ports of call
here.
When it comes to which ship to choose - it would be like choosing a favorite child to recommend one ship over the others. The entire fleet is incredible, and staffed by an amazing cast and crew that provide guests with VIP customer service from beginning to end. No matter which ship and itinerary you choose, your child will have lots of fun activities and entertainment available onboard. The Oceaneer Club is designed just for kids ages 3-12 - a magical place to play with friends while the adults have some fun on their own!
