Hi! We have a cruise on the Fantasy planned for later this year. My husband recently went back to school and may have some work to complete on our trip. How is the wifi on the Fantasy? How likely is it Microsoft Teams would work for a video call?

    Ahoy there, Kendra!

It sounds like you’re gearing up for an incredible adventure aboard the Disney Fantasy later this year—what an amazing ship to set sail on! My family and I are big fans of the Fantasy, from the incredible AquaDuck to the Broadway-style shows in the Walt Disney Theatre, and I just know you’re going to love every magical moment. Let’s talk about how your husband can balance a little schoolwork while enjoying all that pixie-dusted fun.

The Wi-Fi on the Fantasy is reliable for many tasks, but it’s important to set the right expectations. Disney Cruise Line offers two internet package options:

    • Internet (currently $22 per day) – This is great for basic tasks like checking emails, social media, and light web browsing.
    • Internet+Streaming (currently $35 per day) – This is the one your husband will want if he needs to access video conferencing tools like Microsoft Teams. While video calls are possible, keep in mind that the connection can sometimes be a bit spotty due to the nature of satellite internet at sea. It’s not uncommon for the signal to lag a little, especially when the ship is in certain areas.

If he has the flexibility, he might want to schedule calls during times when the ship is docked, as the connection tends to be more stable (fewer Guests onboard). Late evenings can also be a good time to place calls since fewer Guests are using the Wi-Fi. It’s always a good idea to log in early to test the connection before the call begins.

Another tip is to pre-download as much as possible before you leave home. If your husband can download course materials, lecture videos, or any files he might need, it’ll save on time and reduce stress. And, of course, when he’s not hitting the books, make sure he gets to unwind and enjoy the magic!

Here’s a fun tip to make his downtime between schoolwork feel even more magical: try Midship Detective Agency! It’s an interactive game onboard where you help solve a mystery by using enchanted artwork throughout the ship. My family loves teaming up to crack the case, and it’s a great way to explore the Fantasy from bow to stern. Whether you’re chasing clues to solve a Muppets mystery or finding stolen artwork, it’s an experience that brings out your inner Disney detective!

Kendra, I hope this helps you and your husband feel ready to make the most of your magical cruise. Between the stunning ports of call, the delicious food, and all the onboard activities, your vacation will be full of moments to treasure—even with a bit of work sprinkled in.

Wishing you smooth seas, seamless connections, and unforgettable Disney memories!

Sea ya real soon with pixie dust and ocean breezes,
    Dustin
