I am going on the cruise on the Disney Wonder in May and want to dress up for one of the dinners. I have my heart set on a dress in a flapper-esque style that would be a Disneybound nod to Ray the Lightning Bug. Would that be allowed?

    Hello, Sarah!

I'm so excited for you. You'll be sailing on my favorite ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet: the incredible Disney Wonder! I love the Wonder for many reasons, not the least of which is the amazing Tiana's Place restaurant. In fact, Tiana's is my favorite Disney restaurant anywhere. I love the ambiance, the food, and especially the live entertainment. Of course, it's always fun to see Louis the alligator and Tiana herself. But I especially love performances by the Crawfish Crooners, live on the stage at Tiana's Place. It sounds like you have great plans for a special night out, dining at Tiana's Place, or even the other amazing main dining rooms you will experience on the Disney Wonder as part of your Rotational Dining experience. I can get behind that plan!

If you were sailing on a Halloween on the High Seas cruise or other themed cruise like Marvel Day at Sea or Pixar Day at Sea, you would have the opportunity to dress up in full costume to celebrate the theme. And, of course, passengers are welcome to dress in their swashbuckling best for the Pirate Night deck party aboard any cruise that features one. You can find guidelines for costumes on the Disney Cruise Line website. Outside of special themed nights like those, when full costumes would not be appropriate, your plan for Disney Bounding in homage to a beloved character like Ray is quite welcome. The "cruise casual" dress code is pretty permissive to allow passengers to enjoy a very relaxing vacation experience. Most any family-friendly attire would be allowed. Only swimwear and tank tops are disallowed in the main dining rooms. Guests of the adults-only restaurants should take care to note the special dress code requirements to match the elegant nature of those fine dining establishments.

I hope you have a marvelous cruise experience, Sarah. If you are looking for any other advice as you get ready to set sail with Captain Minnie and Captain Mickey, please visit us again here at planDisney.

    Happy sailing, Sarah!
    ~Tony
