Ahoy Heidi!
Thanks for sailing over to planDisney with your question! Getting to the magic (the
Disney Magic in this case!) should never be worrisome so let's take a look at transportation options for your Disney Cruise Line vacation!
Heidi, I sailed out of
Port Everglades a few months ago and the first piece of information I can share is that the port is located very close to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) - just about a 15-minute drive. You can find the latest information on
ground transportation offered through Disney Cruise Line on the website or by
calling and speaking with a Cast Member. Private transportation can be arranged through an outside company or you can also check out rideshare options given the relatively close distance between the airport and the cruise terminal. I always price out a few options to help me make the choice that is best for my family and is also the most cost-effective!
If your travel plans allow, you may also want to consider arriving a day early and enjoying a
pre-cruise hotel stay. I prefer to do this to make my departure mornings a bit more relaxing and remove the stress of any flight delays. Disney Cruise Line has several local hotels that they recommend and can even assist with adding accommodations to your trip.
As you're finalizing your vacation plans, keep an eye on the calendar so you can start booking any desired Port Adventures when
your window opens - some popular choices can sell out quickly! You can also make reservations in advance for adult-exclusive dining, spa services, beverage tastings, and much more. I highly recommend grabbing a reservation at
Palo for either brunch or dinner. Trust me when I tell you that you won't be disappointed! Our family also made reservations at
The Pirates League for a makeover to celebrate
Pirate Night. This is a special offering where adults can join in the fun alongside the kids. It was such a swashbuckling good time and Jack Sparrow was certainly impressed when we met him later that night.
Heidi, I hope this helps as you prepare to make
MAGIC-al memories at sea! Please remember that you are always welcome to drop anchor again at planDisney with any other vacation planning questions you have in the future!
Happy Sailing!
