If a cruise is $4000, how much of that is covered by 177 dvc points?

    Ahoy There, Karen!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for sailing by with your question. It sounds like you are planning an adventure to the great wide somewhere on a Disney Cruise Line Cruise using your Disney Vacation Club Points.  Our family has done this several times, and it's a wonderful way to maximize the magic of Membership to explore Disney in a new way.

Karen, when using Disney Vacation Club Points to pay for your Disney Cruise Line Cruise, you first need to look at the per-person price using Vacation Points for the cruise.  If you are planning to do a combination of Cash and Vacation Points, the Vacation Points have to cover a person's cost fully, and then you would pay cash for the others. You just can't split one person's cost using Vacation Points and cash, but you can pay for one or more Guests' fares using Vacation Points, as long as their fare is covered entirely by your available Points. Then all remaining Guests will be paid for using Cash.

We did this on our last cruise. We used our Vacation Points to pay for my oldest son, and then we used a combination of Gift Cards and Cash to cover the remaining fare for the rest of us. So, I would recommend looking at the Disney Cruise Point Chart and finding the sailing you are interested in, and then from there you can see the Vacation Point cost per person.  If you also look at the per-person cash price on the Disney Cruise Line website for the same cruise, you may be able to estimate what the remaining cost would be (although it is subject to change) if you pay for some of your party using Vacation Points.

If you use your Vacation Points to pay for your Disney Cruise - either in full or in part - you would make that booking through Disney Vacation Club Member Services. They would be able to change your Vacation Points into Reservation Points, make the booking, and take your payment for the Cash portion. They will also manage your reservation should you have any questions after the booking. Just keep in mind there is a non-refundable $95 transaction fee (subject to change) for the booking, which is due at the time of making the reservation.

I hope this helps you, Karen! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, sail back here to see me, and I'll be so happy to help you.  I hope you enjoy your Disney Cruise Line sailing and discover dazzling places you never knew!
