Ahoy Louise!
There’s nothing quite like a
Disney Cruise Line vacation, and a summer sailing aboard the
Disney Wish sounds incredible! Thank you for bringing your question to us; I understand the importance of wanting comforts from home when you travel so I’m happy to help you.
The
prohibited items list includes portable fans as an item that requires inspection by the Chief Electrician and if approved, may then be allowed onboard. Unfortunately that is a decision made at the port, so I spoke with a friendly
Disney Cruise Line Crew Member for some additional clarity on this for you to plan ahead. A small fan may be brought onboard; it must be compact and have a stable base to tolerate any slight movement of the ship. It must be carried on, and any carry-on luggage cannot exceed 9” x 14” x 22” in size. With this description, I feel most box fans would not be allowed. I hope this helps you find a portable fan that may be within the limits and still meets your needs. Please know these policies are in place for everyone’s safety onboard.
My family sleeps really well aboard a Disney ship! The gentle sway in the evenings and the superbly comfortable beds after a busy day is the perfect combination for us. If you don’t find a portable fan that meets the requirements, perhaps you can try a white noise app or natural sounds playlist to mimic the ocean waves to play through your phone's speaker overnight? The brand new Disney Wish has plentiful outlets at the bedside for all your devices. My son adores the special beds made just for him in the staterooms and sees bedtime as an adventure; I’m hoping your children are also able to snuggle up soundly after a busy day of play.
Wishing your family a peaceful rest and a relaxing vacation this summer together!
Sweet Disney dreams,
Amy
