Hi Linda!
Happy to have you stop by planDisney for the first time. I’m sorry you are having to pivot and alter your plans. I’m in the same boat with a recent cancellation, so we are both looking to make some new reservations with Captain Mickey! Even better, you are planning to make this a
land AND sea vacation. Combining a Walt Disney World trip with a Disney cruise is absolutely the best of both worlds. Exploring theme parks and tropical destinations in a single vacation? Yes, please!
I’d suggest your first step is to
contact Disney Cruise Line about this combination vacation. Since you are wanting to include Walt Disney World in your travels, you will be looking at cruises out of
Port Canaveral. My guess is that you are probably aiming for one of the 3 or 4 night cruises on the Disney Dream. Since you have said that you are considering November for your vacation, go ahead and check the particular dates that work for you using the
Disney Cruise Line website, including your desired stateroom(s), and what you'd like to do while at sea and in those amazing ports. My favorite port on those itineraries is
Castaway Cay, which has some phenomenal excursions and plenty of activities for the whole family.
While it’s certainly up to you, my recommendation is to do Walt Disney World first and the Disney cruise after. I like having my theme parks at the beginning because that portion tends to be fast-paced. Then the moment we set foot on the
Disney Dream, we can totally relax and get in that island mentality.
While you are in vacation planning mode, download both the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and the
My Disney Experience app on your mobile device. These two apps will be the key to unlocking all the essential tools for your trip: from all the activities and entertainment options while at sea (like
showtimes and
deck parties) to
mobile ordering and making
advance dining reservations for the landlubber part of your vacation.
While ashore, make sure to carve out some time for the fabulous
Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival since that typically runs from the end of August to the end of November. It’s hands down one of my favorite events in all of Walt Disney World. Then again, they had me as a fan the moment they named it “Food and Wine.”
If you have any additional questions as you make those new reservations, planDisney is here to help! Whether on the Disney Cruise Line side or Walt Disney World, voyage back to see us and we will assist you in making the most of your precious vacation time.
SEA ya real soon!
