We’ll be going on a cruise this April and stopping at Castaway Cay. My husband and my 18-year-old son are scheduled to do the parasailing excursion. They weigh too much to fly together. Does that mean they will ride alone or will they ride w/ a stranger?

    Ahoy, Tenay!

Welcome back to planDisney! April is just around the corner, and your family’s magical Disney cruise is nearly here! Castaway Cay is such a gem—it’s one of my all-time favorite stops, and I know you’re going to love it. While your husband and son are soaring through the skies on their parasailing adventure, be sure to swing by Cookie’s BBQ and make a little magic of your own with a DIY ice cream sandwich: two chocolate chip cookies and your favorite soft-serve ice cream flavor. Trust me, it’s life-changing!

Now, let’s talk about your husband and son’s parasailing excursion. Since the combined weight for a tandem ride can’t exceed 375 pounds, the captain will ultimately make the call about whether they ride solo or with someone else. If they can’t fly together, they may be paired with another Guest who meets the 90-pound minimum and balances the weight requirement for safety. The pairing is always done thoughtfully, and the experienced crew is fantastic at making sure everyone has a great time. One important thing to note is that observers aren’t allowed on the boat, so only Guests with a ticket will join the adventure.

While they’re flying high, there’s so much to explore on Castaway Cay! My family loves walking along the beaches and seeing what kind of sea life we can spot. On our last visit, we found a giant starfish in the waters near Serenity Bay, and we’ve also seen stingrays, sea slugs, and even sea urchins during a snorkeling adventure. If your son enjoys snorkeling, renting equipment on the island is super easy, and the underwater Hidden Mickeys in the snorkeling lagoon are a must-see!

Tenay, your day at Castaway Cay is going to be filled with unforgettable memories, whether you’re relaxing on the beach, exploring the island, or cheering on your husband and son as they take to the skies.

Wishing you blue skies, calm seas, and all the magic Disney’s private island has to offer!

Sea ya real soon with pixie dust and ocean breezes,
    Dustin
