Ahoy there, Elaine! Welcome aboard planDisney!
Ah, a Halloween on the High Seas itinerary! Even if that's all you did, you'd be squarely in the "planDrew-approved" column! My family always has such an amazing time on these itineraries no matter how many times we sail them, and you've got the added bonus of visiting the Mexican Riviera - one of my favorite locations of all on my absolute favorite ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the
Disney Wonder!Need a private tour guide?
Just kidding, but as the father of a tiny castaway myself, our previous lives taking luxury sail and snorkel excursions are on hold until we can get our little guy comfortable in the water, so I'm "in the same ship" as you when it comes to being on the lookout for great family
Port Adventures!
When it comes to Ensenada, there are two basic types of Port Adventures - those that keep you close to the city, and those that take you inland to see some of the amazing agricultural spaces. If you are interested in wine, and you think your 2-year-old would do well on a motorcoach for 40-50 minutes each way, and some lengthy tours, I'd recommend the
Wine Country Tour, which takes you to the Calafia Valley and the Valley of Guadalupe to visit two beautiful wineries - one more modern, and one more traditional!
Since we know the fuse on a 2-year-old is short - even on vacation - I tend to gravitate more toward the nearby cultural experiences. If this sounds like your situation, and since it will be close to Halloween, I would definitely recommend the
A Mexican Halloween - Day of the Dead Celebration. If you love the exploration that "Coco" did of Día de Muertos, here's your chance to be a part of the celebration yourselves, right here in our world. The Cultural Center of Ensenada is beautiful, and no need to be transported to the land of the dead like Miguel! You'll even get a chance to decorate your own sugar skulls and kiddos can decorate a celebration cookie! That's a win-win in my book.
The good news is that either of these adventures is free for your littlest cruiser! Can't beat that!
I hope that helps you set a course for a wonderful way to spend your day in Ensenada with your crew, Elaine! Thank you so much for your question, and I'll be sitting here in the Midwest fully jealous of your adventures! If you have any other questions as you get closer to sailing, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Fair winds and following seas!
