How are the crowds norm. in mid-August? I want to attend the parks, but am nervous about long lines. I know it will be hot, but with it being the week of or the week before most schools start in the fall, will it be very crowded?

    Hi Jessica,

Mid-June through Labor Day (which is September 5, 2011) is considered to be the Highest Attendance Period to visit WDW according to the WDW Website busiest and least busy times to visit page.  I have gone to WDW for many years now during the summer months of July and August and I can validate that it is indeed quite crowded and very hot and humid. For many, this is the best time to visit based on children being out of school and having Summer Holidays, but unfortunately, this is also the reason why it can be so crowded.

I personally don't mind too much because I go for about 3-4 weeks duration and I can "take my time" and go slowly, but if I only had a week (or so) during this time with the crowds, heat and not very much time to see and do everything in this short period of time....let's just say that I am not so sure I would go during Summer.  If you go, drink lots of water, bring sunscreen and don't be in a rush....just enjoy the time you have comfortably and what you don't get to see or do this trip, there will always be next time.

    Best wishes,
    Brigitta
