Hi. How are the crowds during the weekend of the princess half marathon? Is it worth me purchasing park tickets or is it extremely busy. We check in around 4:00 on Friday, is that early enough or should we arrive Thursday? First Disney 5K Run -new runner!

    Hi Valerie!

The Princess Half weekend is great!  The 5K is really fun, and it is perfect for a new runner!  I am sure that you will be addicted to runDisney after the race.

Honestly, in the past, Princess weekend has been somewhat crowded at the parks.  I think it will be even more crowded this year because it is following the surge of President's Day crowds.  The website, www.touringplans.com, predicts crowd levels with amazing accuracy.  They are predicting the Friday and Saturday of Princess weekend to be a 10 out of 10 on the crowd level scale.  However, Sunday is only a 4 and the following week is also really low.

So, if at all possible, you may want to park hop AFTER the race.  If not, the crowds will be fine as long as you have the right attitude and know in advance that you may have to wait for some things.  Disney is always magical, and with the right plan and attitude, even the busiest day is still perfect!

Please let me know if you have any other questions as you prepare for your first runDisney event!
