How do I get a credit from a ticket reservation that we didn't use? I had two tickets for Jan 29th but one person was sick and could not go. Can I purchase another ticket for another day with a credit? Phone lines are usually 3 hour waits!

Hi Nicol!
Thank you for sending us your question and welcome to planDisney! I am sorry that you could not come to visit the parks when you intended to, but planning a new vacation is the best way to combat the Disney blues. I can't wait for you to experience the magic again and I am honoured to be helping you on your planning journey!
To answer your question, you can use these unused tickets and apply them as a credit to other tickets of equal or higher value. Indeed, since the value of theme parks tickets does not expire, you can subtract those tickets from the value of the new tickets and pay for the price difference. There are two ways to get a credit for these tickets, but it does have to be processed by a Cast Member. One way to get in contact with a Cast Member is, indeed, by calling in, though you might experience long wait times, as you said. A trick to avoid the long wait times is to call in as soon as they open, which is 7 A.M.
However, if you are like me and are not an early bird, there is, thankfully, another way. If you live near the theme parks or Disney Springs, you can also go to a ticketing window and see a Cast Member there. The Cast Members at ticketing windows will also be able to put the amount you spent on your original tickets towards new ones or towards an Annual Pass so you can skip the long wait times on the phone. It is important to note that they will ask for the date of your new visit upon purchase, so make sure that you have agreed on a new time for your visit before you purchase new tickets.
If, however, this were to happen again in the future, you can use the My Disney Experience website or mobile app to reschedule your theme park tickets and reservations. To do so, you would simply log into your My Disney Experience account and click on "My Plans" and then on "Tickets & Memory Maker." There, you should be able to click on "Change Ticket" and reschedule the date of your visit! Similarly, once you see your reservations in the "My Plans" section, you will be able to click on "View Details" and then change your reservations.
I hope this was helpful, Nicol, and that you can get back to the magic as soon as possible! If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your next visit, don't hesitate to reach out. You and me, we're in a club now! I am sending you all the pixie dust and hope that this can be fixed for you real soon.
Have a magical day,
Ariane
