is a creative gender revel in the parks possible? something like Mickey/Minnie revealing a baby Mickey/mini doll to my family at a character meet was possible. I also just read about a scuba diver at an Epcot restaurant revealing the gender. Any ides?

    Hi Maria!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Oh Boy! (Or 'Oh Girl!') Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy! I can think of no better place to celebrate the newest pal joining your party than at Walt Disney World Resort!

I have good news and I have great news, Maria, in that not only is a gender reveal possible, there are almost too many options. (I guess you could always save the other ideas as ways to announce future Mouseketeers!) There are a few park rules that will prevent you from being able to arrange certain plans, so sadly anything that would make a mess (confetti, colored smoke) is out. And because all bags and packages (including wrapped boxes) must be inspected prior to entering a Disney Theme Park, you'd be at risk of finding out what you're having at the theme park entrance. But enough of what you can't do, let's move on to the ideas!

Having your favorite Disney Character help with your announcement is so much fun, and actually my Moms Panel sister Ashley has a great answer on how to do this. Rayna also some really great ideas about using balloons as well as your baby's first pair of Mickey ears. And while you can utilize Disney's PhotoPass Photographers at both character experiences as well as in front of park icons (like the photographers found up and down Main Street U.S.A.), Disney recently introduced a brand-new PhotoPass experience called "Capture Your Moment" for occasions just like this. What I love about this new option is not only will your dedicated photographer capture every second of joy with you and your crew, you'll probably have enough time in your booking to take both the reveal photos as well as some posed "after" shots with your baby props too. I also like that all of the photos taken during this session will become yours through your Memory Maker package.

As far as Disney Dining Locations, sadly divers no longer deliver messages at Coral Reef. However, one cool location is the Ice Cave Room at T-Rex, a dinosaur themed restaurant in Disney Springs. This cave is normally a pale shade of icy blue, but just like the fairies in Sleeping Beauty, your server can "Make It Pink" or "Make It Blue" when you're ready to find out. And no matter where you dine, definitely notate when you make the reservation as well as when you check-in that you're celebrating a brand new baby.

Lastly, definitely pick up some complimentary celebration buttons for your entire family. Once you know what you're having, you could write the baby's name on the "I'm Celebrating" pins. And for sure get a "First Visit" button for your baby bump. Buttons can be found at almost every shop and dining location, as well as at the front desk of every Disney Resort Hotel.

I'm so excited for you to find out if you're having a little Mickey or mini Minnie. ChEARs again, Maria, for this very exciting time, and We'll See You Real Soon!
